Price change

Pixagogo has been storing all your original pictures safely for years now. This means that we need a lot of storage.
Even though energycosts have kept rising, we chose to keep our prices the same over the last years.
Now we have come to a point where we have to change our prices to meet with our higher costs on infrastructure.
Our apologies for any inconvenience.

New database servers

This morning we have installed our new database servers. To make sure all your data is stored securely we stopped all our services to do this. Please excuse us for the small maintenance window and we hope you enjoy our improved services.

Pixagogo performance gain

Last weekend Pixagogo underwent a performance boost to give all our members a better user experience. Some of our most loyal users pointed out that they were experiencing some delays when uploading photos. This should be fixed now and we wish to thank all of them for their patience.

Scheduled Maintenance (April 27, 2006)

We will upgrade the Pixagogo servers tomorrow Thursday April 27, 2006 between 12.00 and 14.00 hrs UTC (check your timezone here). 

During this time-frame, accessibility of the Pixagogo website will not be consistent and Pixagogo.com and the international sites will be offline during this upgrade.

Telenet acquires Pixagogo

It's official... Telenet has acquired Pixagogo. Telenet is the largest provider of broadband cable services in Belgium, its business comprises the provision of basic and premium cable television, high speed internet and telephony services, primarily to residential customers in Flanders.

With the takeover of Photoblog and Pixagogo, Telenet initially plans to improve its portal site, breedband.telenet.be.

This acquisition will allow Pixagogo to reach a larger audience and we hope to improve the Pixagogo service and add new features such as video sharing in the very near future.

Pixagogo API

So you've got this great application or service that you want to build on top of the Pixagogo Platform?  Go to the brand new tools section , request your personale API key and off you go!

Please be aware that this is new to us... we will be making changes over the next weeks and months and you probably shouldn't build mission criticial applications with the Pixagogo API.

Have fun!  Feedback and the results of your hard work are always welcome. Hey, you might even get listed in our tools section and become famous.

The first application is a Pixagogo Screen Saver.   This application allows you to turn one of your albums in to a slide show screen saver.  You can download the Screen Saver from the tools page and edit the screen saver settings from the Windows Display Property window (right click on your desktop, select properties and click on the screen saver tab).

Photo Maps released

After test driving the Photo Maps service, we've integrated our geotagging service in the standard Pixagogo offering: on the album lay-out page you can select your photos and add geo coordinates to your photos.

It's really simple to create a Photo Map:

1. Select an album;
2. Go to the album lay-out page of that album;
3. Select the photos you want to geo label;
4. Add geo coordinates (you can find them by clicking on the "find on map" button, browse to the location and hit the "use coordinates" button);
5. Click on the "view Photo map link".

A small globe will appear under the photos that you've labeled with geo coordinates.

You can turn every Pixagogo photo album in to a Photo Map: you just have to add "maps/" to the album link:

This (http://www.pixagogo.com/2110365858) is a Photo Album of a "Paris Shopping trip".  You want to see a few photos on a photo map of Paris?  Go to this Photo Map (or to this link http://www.pixagogo.com/maps/2110365858).

Click on one of the photos to browse the geo labeled photos on the map.

Your albums on your website

We're test driving a brand new feature: a small piece of javascript code that you can include in the html of your website:

Replace the album pin with the unique number of one of your albums.

This code will display your album in your website with your header and your stylesheets.

You can customize (background, width, description, title, ...) your album in the Pixagogo interface.  All these settings (1 exception: paging) will come through: so if you want a 500 pixels wide album with a black background: simply change your album layout and settings in your Pixagogo studio and voila! your website will display your photos 500 pixels wide and with a black background under your websites headers, footers and sidebars.

Please note that this is a test service subject to improvements and changes.  We will officially release this new feature during the next weeks.

Photo Sticker

Do you have a website, personal web page or a blog? Why not add your Pixagogo photos to your website!

Adding your Pixagogo photos to your website is as easy as counting to 3:
1) Go to the album lay-out page;
2) Copy the Sticker code;
3) Paste the Sticker code in your website's html.

You can easily customize your Sticker for horizontal or vertical use: simply change the rows and columns to easily fit your website's design  (Don't forget to change the frame sizes).

Pixagogo acquires Photoblog!

Pixagogo has acquired Photoblog.net. Photoblog.net is a Photo weblog service that allows you to post photos and let others comment your work.

Photoblog.net is also a neat community tool: you can link to your friend's photo blogs and you can add your skype id, plazes information and many other tools to you profile page.

We are excited to add some of the Photoblog features to the Pixagogo service in the very near future and we welcome the Photoblog users to the Pixagogo community.
