Pixagogo API
So you've got this great application or service that you want to build on top of the Pixagogo Platform? Go to the brand new tools section , request your personale API key and off you go!
Please be aware that this is new to us... we will be making changes over the next weeks and months and you probably shouldn't build mission criticial applications with the Pixagogo API.
Have fun! Feedback and the results of your hard work are always welcome. Hey, you might even get listed in our tools section and become famous.
The first application is a Pixagogo Screen Saver. This application allows you to turn one of your albums in to a slide show screen saver. You can download the Screen Saver from the tools page and edit the screen saver settings from the Windows Display Property window (right click on your desktop, select properties and click on the screen saver tab).

Photo Maps released
After test driving the Photo Maps service, we've integrated our geotagging service in the standard Pixagogo offering: on the album lay-out page you can select your photos and add geo coordinates to your photos.
It's really simple to create a Photo Map:
- Select an album;
- Go to the album lay-out page of that album;
- Select the photos you want to geo label;
- Add geo coordinates (you can find them by clicking on the "find on map" button, browse to the location and hit the "use coordinates" button);
- Click on the "view Photo map link".
A small globe will appear under the photos that you've labeled with geo coordinates.
You can turn every Pixagogo photo album in to a Photo Map: you just have to add "maps/" to the album link:
This (http://www.pixagogo.com/2110365858) is a Photo Album of a "Paris Shopping trip". You want to see a few photos on a photo map of Paris? Go to this Photo Map (or to this link http://www.pixagogo.com/maps/2110365858).
Click on one of the photos to browse the geo labeled photos on the map.

Your albums on your website
We're test driving a brand new feature: a small piece of javascript code that you can include in the html of your website:
<script language="javascript" src="http://www.pixagogo.com/tools/albumcontent.aspx?pin=9161305191"></script>
Replace the album pin with the unique number of one of your albums.
This code will display your album in your website with your header and your stylesheets.
You can customize (background, width, description, title, ...) your album in the Pixagogo interface. All these settings (1 exception: paging) will come through: so if you want a 500 pixels wide album with a black background: simply change your album layout and settings in your Pixagogo studio and voila! your website will display your photos 500 pixels wide and with a black background under your websites headers, footers and sidebars.
Please note that this is a test service subject to improvements and changes. We will officially release this new feature during the next weeks.
You can find an example here.
Your feedback is much appreciated on the Pixagogo user forum.

Label Gallery
We released the Pixagogo label gallery this week. From now on, we will show the labeled photos of public gallery albums in the Label Gallery.
The digital photos in this gallery are organized according to the labels (tags or keywords) that the Pixagogo users have applied to their photos. You can check out the most popular labels or look for a particular label by clicking on the letters. The size of the label name will get bigger as more users apply the label to their photos.

Pixagogo Address Book
Pixagogo is all about sharing your digital photos. Once you've uploaded your digital photos and customized your on line albums, you want to share these on line photo albums with your family and friends.
By introducing the Pixagogo address book we want to facilitate the sharing experience: you only have to type your email addresses once (you can even copy/paste a comma separated list) and Pixagogo will store your addresses. Next time you share an album or you send an e-card, you do not have to type those email addresses again. You simply select your contacts in your Pixagogo address book.
You can even create groups, making sharing your digital photos even more easy!
Check out the Pixagogo address book in your Pixagogo account or on the share page of any album. You will fin your address book behind the "to", "cc" or "bcc" button on your share album or send e-card page.

Pixagogo Pro
Introducing a "Pro" version has been a discussion for a while now: we know there is interest, we just can't quantify it. So we've decided on a way to at least get it started!
It looks like the most urgent requirements for professionals have to do with the fixed and prominent branding of the Pixagogo album pages. In other words: "Have the Option for the User to Completely replaces the maskhead layout and Pixagogo logo, with his/her own. Maybe with a small text credit line or contact info saying Gallery by Pixagogo", or something along this line.
This is something which we have done on a project basis before. But we are prepared to turn it into a standard offering starting today. Based on your HTML page or at least graphic elements we would provide you with a custom layout for your album, according to YOUR specification, with just a small "Powered by Pixagogo" reference on the bottom.
We would be glad to work with you to develop the full feature set for Pro within a reasonable time frame.
For such a service, the following features have been under discussion at some time or other: (disclaimer: no commitments here yet - not everything has been fully analysed)
- unbranding/rebranding the album html
- running the album HTML as a frame in another web site
- removing the Pixagogo.com watermark from directly linked pictures
- support for named albums and/or other redirected domain names
- support for (optional, protected) download of full-resolution originals by correspondents
- support for setting individual prices on ordered photo prints, as well as adding promotional photo prints to any order from one of your albums
- separate professional gallery and listing on the Pixagogo web site
- individual email and phone support
- [your ideas go here...]
A yearly subscription to Pixagogo Pro would cost 249 euro incl. VAT. We are sincerely interested in any reactions, and we're looking forward to your subscriptions!

Search at the Rescue
Well, strictly spoken, maybe these aren't "new" features. They've been with us for a couple months now. But they definitely could use some more exposure.
I'm talking about the Search feature, both in your own albums overview page as in the public Photo Gallery.
1. login to your account, and on the albums overview page, type a search string into the search box on the floating toolbar and hit the Enter key (or click the Search button); unlike Google, it will match any partial or complete word in the title or description of an album: "embe" will find "September" for instance. If you have an albums page with about 200 albums, like I do, this is much faster than scrolling to get to the one you're looking for - so much that I find myself using it all the time now.
2. In the public gallery, click the Search button (on the right of "Categories"), then enter a search string in the search box on top of the complete list of public albums and click the rectangular Search button next to it.

Creative Commons Licences
Do you want people to redistribute your photos, as long as they give you credit?
Is it OK for people to send your photos around to friends, so long as they don't make money off them? Provided they don't alter them, say, by changing the color, or cropping them?
Pixagogo has teamed up with Creative Commons to provide an interface to select your (free!) Creative Commons licenses telling the world how they can distribute or re-use your photos and albums.
Offering your work under a Creative Commons license does NOT mean giving up your copyright. It means offering some of your rights to any taker, and only on certain conditions.
Creative Commons is a non-profit organization that offers free tools. You can help Creative Commons to become a leading force in re-shaping the creative and educational landscape on the Net. Support the Commons.
